A yellow weather warning has been issued for Falmouth, Penryn and the rest of Cornwall for particularly icy conditions this week.

The warning is in place for Wednesday (6th), Thursday (7th) and Friday (8th).

Ahead of the icy conditions, the Met Office said:

"Icy stretches are likely to form in places leading to slippery conditions and perhaps some disruption to travel."

What to expect?

  • Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.
  • Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

The forecast

Showers, a mixture of rain sleet and snow, are expected to fall onto frozen surfaces leading to icy stretches forming.

In addition, a more persistent spell of rain is likely to spread south across northern England and north Wales during Thursday evening and night.
