The Met Office has granted Falmouth a yellow weather warning regarding ice on the roads for the entirety of today.

Police previously put out a statement urging extra precaution for motorists in the Falmouth area, stating:

"We are urging motorists to please take care on the roads in the inclement weather - drive to the conditions, keep your speed down and leave plenty of distance between you and other vehicles."

The Met Office expects a higher risk of slips and falls on icy surfaces and urges cyclists and motorists to drive with care, especially on untreated roads.

They have given advice for cyclists who will be riding in these conditions, a Met Office spokesperson said:

"Apply both brakes smoothly to avoid locking the wheels, and make sure you've done all of your braking before you start cornering.

"Also, bear in mind that other road users' visibility may be compromised - give other road users plenty of time and space to do the unexpected."

The cold weather looks due to continue throughout the week, with patches of heavy rain occurring throughout.

There has been no planned disruption to public transport or events as of yet.
