Falmouth: Vital funds for community football club as auction raises £600

By Joseph Macey 23rd Dec 2021

Parents and coaches from Falmouth Community Football Club were involved in a Christmas social and a club auction this week.

In an electric atmosphere with family and friends cheering on - the score finished 7-6 to coaches at Falmouth School. Shirts were kindly donated for the day by Falmouth Town and Mawnan Smith FC.

The standard was incredibly high and the parents had the coaches worried many times during the match by keeping a consistent lead.

The blind auction afterward was a great success and they raised £600 for the club. Various items were put up for auction including a signed Southampton shirt, a signed Chelsea football, and a holiday getaway for four people.

Speaking to Nub News, the club said they are planning to spend the money on training more coaches, extra footballs, and bibs for the children.

Janine Kennedy, Falmouth Community Football Club Chair, told Nub News:

"Our club has grown over six years since we became affiliated. When Arno set up the club we had about 50 members, now we have over 300. We have 14 teams, we have got a girls team. We are due to enter three more teams next season - and that is from under 8 all the way through until under 16.

"We always do a Christmas and a summer fundraising event where we make around £500. The day is less about fundraising and more about bonding, getting parents and coaches together for a bit of fun."
