UPDATE - Traffic easing, earlier flooding on A39 both ways from B3284 St Austell Street (Trafalgar roundabout, Truro) to Carnon Gate Roundabout (Devoran).

There are queues on a major route between Falmouth and Truro this afternoon following heavy rain.

The rain has caused flooding and drivers are being warned to avoid it "at all costs."

Resident Rachel Gerred-Hart posted the warning on the local community page saying:

"Bottom of Arch Hill almost impassable and still raining heavily.

"A39 Falmouth - Truro, avoid at all costs, heavy flooding and traffic crawling.

"Norway Inn is flooded, not sure if it will stay open with how bad it is,

deep water on Playing Place roundabout approaching garage."

Devon and Cornwall Police said:

"Queueing traffic due to flooding on A39 both ways from B3284 St Austell Street (Trafalgar roundabout, Truro) to Carnon Gate Roundabout (Devoran)."
