Organisers and traders have been informed by the council that the Market on the Moor will not return until March, in the past two years the market has run all year round.

The social media page for the market(Falmouth Market On The Moor ) shared this message: "Obviously, this will mean a loss of earnings for our regular traders who rely on the market to make a living, pay their bills, and put food on the table for their families.

"We would like to apologise wholeheartedly to the local community for the loss of this service but sadly there is nothing we can do about it. The traders have tried to reason with the council but the council is adamant that it will only run March - December like it used to prior to 2020."

Comments flooded in on the post asking for an explanation from the council, even Falmouth Councillor Jayne Kirkham commented to say she would try to find out the reason why.

Nub News has approached the council for a comment.

Falmouth Market On The Moor has provided some great tips on how to support local traders even without the market.

Roots and Shoots Falmouth also shared their own message on social media: "The market has run through the year for the last two years but a decision was made by Falmouth Town Council a few days before Christmas to not continue with this schedule & we (the traders) have gone back & forth with them to attempt to get that decision reversed. To no avail.

"So here we are at the beginning of 2023, with no Falmouth's Market on The Moor for the next two months & lots of worries about how we're going to survive as small businesses without this market.

"At the moment I can positively announce that I will be @truro_farmers_market on Tuesday from next week for a few weeks.

"If you would like to support my business you can do so by placing an order through the website, I'll be continuing to do twice weekly deliveries (Tuesday & Thursday) If you know someone that perhaps doesn't use social media and will be impacted by this decision then please spread the word."
