There is set to be a closure on Falmouth's Gyllyngvase Hill for over two weeks.

The closure will be introduced on Monday 7th February for trenching works, and is expected to be completed on Friday 25th February.

It will be in place 24 hours a day, weekends included. Motorists will be forced to use a diversion around Melvill Road, and Fenwick Road.

Kevin Bryant, Cornwall Council Head of Highways and Infrastructure commented:

"The Council is satisfied that the Order is needed because trenching works are being executed on or near the road.

"Nothing in this order will apply to traffic associated with the works required within the highway specified, any vehicle being used for the purposes of an undertaker in an emergency, such as loss of utility supplies and anything done with the permission of or at the discretion of a police officer. Pedestrian and vehicular access to residents and businesses will be maintained."
