A post on a popular Falmouth Facebook page has called for residents to offer and swap children's books between each other on World Book Day.

The group known as 'C.R.A.P Falmouth/Penryn area' which stands for 'Conserving Resources Associating People', was made specifically to share needed goods between the community.

The aim is to post books on to the page on World Book Day (Thursday 5th) and people can claim the ones they want to borrow or trade.

Bridie posted onto the group stating:

"We have children's books that could be swapped or offered and I'm sure there are plenty of other people who have too.

"Shall we offer them on this page next Thursday? We have the weekend then to hunt them out.

"It might mean lots of book posts for the day, but everyone is forewarned and I can do a reminder on Wednesday.

"Perhaps you have a costume you could offer on here too ahead of next Thursday."

A statistic from the National Literary Trust states that more than 380,000 children in the UK do not own a single book.
