Residents in Falmouth and the surrounding area have been assured that Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC) will remain open during lockdown.

There were fears that the sites around Cornwall, including Falmouth & Penryn could shut following the original closure way back in March.

Cornwall Councillor Rob Nolan revealed the news on social media saying:

"We are assured by the Minister that HWRC's can stay open! Phew! But the odd/even number plate system will continue."

The site reopened in May and residents were quick to praise how the site was operating.

It is not yet clear whether there will be any other measures introduced following the announcement of a second lockdown.

Cornwall Council has been approached for a comment.
