On Saturday morning the Falmouth RNLI team was requested after a windsurfer got into difficulty near Castle and Gylly beach.

The windsurfer got into difficulty after a swift change in the wind stopped them getting clear of the lee shore.

A spokesperson for Falmouth RNLI said:

"Launching at 10:07am, the inshore lifeboat rounded Pendennis Point and made its way towards Castle and Gyllyngvase Beaches.

"The volunteer crew arrived at the windsurfer who was taken aboard the inshore lifeboat along with their gear, and the inshore lifeboat crew took the individual back to Gyllyngvase Beach by 10.29am.

"The experienced windsurfer had been caught out when the wind had suddenly dropped leaving them unable to sail clear of the lee shore and were grateful for the assistance given."
