Falmouth Garden Centre is today reopening to serve customers seven days a week, 10am-4pm.

The family-run business is today opening its doors as lockdown restrictions have been eased by the government.

The centre is running on new reduced hours due to a shortage of staff as two members of the family are currently isolating.

Erika, her two sisters and nephew, will currently be working at the centre, taking the seven days a week in shifts.

Erika said:

"The Horticultural industry will be breathing a sigh of relief now that garden centres are reopening."

The Centre closed its doors at the end of March to the general public but remained delivering to residents, giving priority to the isolated, elderly and vulnerable.

"We will deliver locally to those most in need for as long as possible and will carry on with our daily chores here at the Garden Centre," they wrote on social media.

The centre has said they will keep their delivery service going while their open.

Erika told Nub News:

"We have never really been about money. We want to provide a service and help people, which I hope we do."

Half of the car park will be closed off and the Centre is only allowing a certain amount of customers into the premises at one time to make sure social distancing is being met.

"We will be being strict with our distancing policies and we hope now people will want to be enforcing it themselves too."

Erika believes that the opening of garden centres across the country are going to help with the nation's wellbeing.

"Everyone keeps talking about the mental health aspect of lockdown, but it really is true.

"We don't know how people have been coping being inside in lockdown, it'll be nice for people to come and have a bit of social time again, albeit at a safe distance.

"It is nice that people now have a destination to come and bring them a little bit of normality."
