Councillors and cycling enthusiasts celebrate the arrival of the bikes last year.

A new operator has been chosen to takeover Falmouth's e-bikes.

Co Bikes, based in Exeter, launched the scheme last summer in time for the G7.

However, they have withdrawn all their bikes and charging stations at The Moor and The Grove after the contract was awarded to a new provider.

An email distributed to e-bike users reads:

"The stations will be removed in June. This is due to Cornwall Council awarding the e-bike tender to an alternative operator.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for using Co Bikes."

The new provider hasn't been announced yet but it is suggested they have experience delivering similar schemes.

"Really disappointing news. Hopefully, bikes from another provider will be in place by September but that still leaves all summer without them," one councillor commented.
