The developer has withdrawn plans to build an L-shaped apartment block on Church Street, Falmouth.

Submitted by Cornwall Planning Group on behalf of Mr & Mrs Fletcher - the plans were to build a block comprising of 4 high-quality apartments with bike storage and associated landscaping.

As reported in February, permission was sought for the demolition of an existing block structure on the site and the construction of a two-and-a-half-storey L-shaped building to accommodate four residential apartments.

The applicants said they would've been of "high quality" providing "much needed" residential accommodation.

Falmouth Town Council's planning committee recommended refusal of the application back in February.

A representative from Falmouth & Penryn Conservation Committee also objected to the plans, saying: "It appears to the Committee that this particular proposal is severely lacking amenity space for the humans that will be living there."

A resident of nearby Well Lane was among a number of objections, commenting: "The proposed development is entirely unsuitable for such a small space in the middle of a very busy little town. The redevelopment of Falmouth in recent years has not had a positive impact. Conservation areas should be respected."

Yesterday (8th) the plans were withdrawn. It is not yet clear whether the plans will be resubmitted.
