Falmouth Coastguard and Rescue Team were yesterday called to reports of a hire boat aground near Devoran.

The team discovered a vessel with two occupants and a dog on board 300 metres from the shore.

Specialist Mud Rescue Technicians were deployed and the occupants were winched back from the safety of the shore.

"Once complete, we returned to station for a lengthy cleanup," a spokesperson for the coastguard team said.

"As the evening would soon have drawn in, with limited provisions and not enough water to refloat the vessel until around midnight, it was decided to bring the occupants back to shore."

If you spot someone in danger at the coast call 999 and ask for COASTGUARD.

One resident spoke about the rescue on social media, stating:

"A word in the ear to the local hire boat operators might be a good idea! This is happening far too frequently."

The Falmouth coastguard team yesterday featured in a brand-new series called Emergency Rescue: Air, Land & Sea. You can catch that on All 4.
