Falmouth and Penryn hospitality establishments will today begin to enforce the new 'rule of six'.

This new government ruling comes after the UK's R number rose between 1 and 1.2.

The new rule applies to homes, bars, restaurants, cafes and outside public spaces.

The rule is exempt in schools and workplaces.

Nate Foster, manager of The Kings Arms in Penryn, told Nub News:

"We shall just be further enforcing social distancing rules like we already are. Our tables are already split and already sit a maximum of 6 people.

"We have kept an accurate track and trace since July so again no change there.We will however be cancelling our event on the 26th.

"The rule of 6 is good and has simplified things for us."

Seaside restaurant Hooked On The Rocks has also stopped taking bookings of more than six from today.

A spokesperson for the restaurant said: "Our customer and staff health and safety is paramount to us and we will continue to work in line with the latest rules and regulations regarding covid 19."
