A Falmouth-based care home managed to raise more than £250 despite the rain at their summer fete.

MHA Langholme organised the fete in the grounds of the home and despite the rain turned it into a very entertaining and fun-filled day.

Residents were treated to some entertainment in the form of X Factor contestant Duane with staff, residents and family members having a dance.

The home offers 40 places for residential and dementia care and relied on the support of gazebos to keep residents, family and friends dry.

There were plenty of activities and fete classics such as a raffle, tombola and a bric-a-brac sale. The funds raised will go towards the home amenity fund, which is used to organise trips and activities for residents.

Kate Bateson, admin manager said: "The fete turned out to be very successful, despite the Cornish mizzle. It was still quite warm, so residents and guests had no issue with staying outdoors, and the gazebos worked well and kept us dry.

"There was plenty for people to do on the day and it was nice to see so many family members attend. The residents really enjoyed themselves, the feedback we got from them was very positive and it was a great day.

"The funds raised will go towards organising activities and events for the residents, and we are all very grateful for the support shown by guests."
