The Falmouth Bookseller has been shortlisted for Independent Bookshop Of The Year in the South-West category.

Those on the Regional Shortlists will go head to head in another stage of The British Book Awards to be the Regional Winners and be on the shortlist for our overall Independent Bookshop of the Year.

The overall Independent Bookshop of the Year winner will receive a £5,000 cheque, courtesy of Gardners, on 18th May 2020 at the awards night. The 2020 Awards will take place at The JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel.

Eloise Rowe, manager at Falmouth Bookseller, told Nub News:

"It is a lovely thing anyway that the awards are regional because it makes people aware of all the bookshops.

"This is based on a years worth of work, it is off the back of a year of events and a year of signings and building up that customer base. It is a lot of hard work that goes into it.

"Bookshops are quite an odd one because they were the first thing that was hit by the online giants and we are the ones that have learnt what makes us different and what to do to try and keep people coming in. Bookshops are surviving, in a world where not many high streets are thriving they are actually doing okay."
