Falmouth bin collections will take place slightly earlier tomorrow as extreme heat is forecast.

Cornwall Council has said that collections will start from 6am instead of 7am so crews can avoid the hot weather.

A national red alert heatwave emergency has been declared for most of England, including Cornwall, for today (18th) and Tuesday (19th).

A spokesperson for Cornwall Council said: "Due to the hot weather, waste and recycling collections will be taking place earlier tomorrow to help keep our crews safe.

"They'll start at 6am on Tuesday (19th) so please make sure your rubbish, recycling or garden waste is at its collection point before then.

"If you're putting it out the night before, make sure it's covered so the gulls and other wildlife can't get to it."

Collections are due to go back to their usual time on Wednesday (20th).
