Falmouth and Penryn residents invited to take part in health and wellbeing workshop for charity

By Joseph Macey 10th May 2022

A former Falmouth University employee is organising a one-off interactive wellbeing event in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month.

The event will take place tomorrow evening (11th) at Penair School, Truro from 6-8pm.

People can enjoy trying out an array of exercise activities from local fitness providers, use it as an opportunity to socialise and meet new people, and talk about their own experiences of wellbeing, coping with life's challenges as well as hearing from the three charities that HMS Shipshape is fundraising for RCHT, The Wave Project and Your Voice Cornwall.

Tickets are £10 with 100% of all proceeds split evenly across the three charities.

There are both exercise participant ticket options and spectator tickets if you just want to come along to be a part of the event.

HMS Shipshape founder Heidi James told Nub News:

"It is about breaking down those societal expectations. People look at fitness instructors and think they must have it all in order. I'm trying to say that I have been finding things difficult as well. Doing my classes and organising this event is self-therapy for me. I know a lot of people are finding it quite tough at the moment. I'm hoping this will help."

Tickets can be purchased here.
