Face coverings reintroduced for Falmouth and Penryn pupils after local covid spike

Falmouth School and Penryn College have reintroduced face coverings in communal areas after a coronavirus cases spike in the community.

The decision was taken to help reduce the threat of covid-19 in the local area.

The reintroduction of face coverings comes after the community has seen an obvious spike in covid cases.

As of today (22nd), Falmouth, Penryn, and Mabe have an estimated 253 cases altogether.

This rise in cases has also seen around 20 businesses close due to covid.

Penryn College and Mabe School have also reported positive cases in recent days, with children and staff having to isolate.

Addressing parents, a Penryn College spokesperson added:

"An important reminder for parents/carers that Penryn College and Falmouth School have agreed to reintroduce the use of face coverings for students in communal areas and corridors in order to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

"Please ensure that your child has a face covering with them for each school day in order to help us beat this virus."
