Emergency food parcel initiative relaunched to spread Christmas cheer in the Falmouth community

By Joseph Macey 16th Sep 2021

An emergency food box initiative supporting the Falmouth & Penryn community has been relaunched after the success of the fundraiser last spring.

Led by Robin Markland the creator of the charitable organisation Community Heart, the food boxes will be delivered during December and January, providing family size veg boxes to those most in need.

You can make a donation to the fundraiser here.

Every £20 will sponsor an emergency box which will allow vulnerable people to enjoy preparing their own meals in their homes, at the correct portions to their own taste - ensuring that nothing is wasted.

Robin Markland said:

"The emergency food box initiative we ran last spring was the first of its kind in the UK and it was a huge success.

"We delivered 3 tonnes of fresh food to our communities most vulnerable; the elderly, families in food poverty and other vulnerable people in isolation.

"Crucially, food to the door reduces the need for people to leave their homes during these most pivotal times where it is crucial that people stay in a much as possible.

"Each box has enough fresh food for 7 days, but it is obviously far more than that - I have witnessed that they really are a rainbow delivered to their door and a much-needed boost to help alleviate isolation fatigue and an expression of solidarity.

The boxes are carefully delivered to where they are needed, strictly adhering to all safeguarding measures.

The fundraising target is set at £1,500.
