Emergency services were mobilised to Melville Road, Falmouth, on Friday lunchtime following an accident involving a cyclist.

Falmouth Coastguard were originally tasked to reports of Time Expired Pyrotechnics dumped within a trailer at Falmouth Marina, which was dealt with.

While travelling to assist in this incident a second coastguard vehicle came across an accident involving a cyclist on Melville Road.

The individual had sustained "serious injuries" and was helped by a police officer, a passerby and a Coastguard Casualty Carer.

A crew from South Western Ambulance Service arrived and the casualty was transferred and taken to Treliske Hospital for further treatment.

The road was closed for a short while the operation was carried out and for a police investigation.
