Couple set to 'brave the shave' in tribute to Falmouth grandmother
Willow Parker-Murray has decided to 'Brave the Shave' in tribute to her nan, who passed away during lockdown, losing her life to bowel cancer.
Gloria Kevern, of the Beacon area of Falmouth, passed away on May 9th aged 75, after battling cancer for most of her granddaughter's life.
Willow, aged 24, and her partner Herb Suiter-Western, aged 27, of Blackwater, have set a date to shave their entire heads of hair off to raise money and awareness for Macmillan Cancer Support in Gloria's memory.
Willow looked after Gloria for ten years before she went into Trevern Care Home in Falmouth, but was only able to see her once during the last months of her life after the government lockdown on March 23rd.
Willow said:
"My nan had cancer all of my life and before I was born. She was always some sort of fighter, she never gave up.
"She lived in the Beacon area of Falmouth and a lot of people knew her. She lived there for all of my life.
"She was very popular in her local community and was so loved that local children would even call her 'Nan' or 'Gran'.
"She was kind to everybody, generous and helpful. If she could help somebody she would. If she could put herself out for someone she would.
"Looking after my nan for so long and watching her lose her hair sometimes was a lot for me."

Willow added:
"A lot of people don't seem to like the idea of people getting their head shaved but I think it shows the brave side of facing cancer. To have hair is one thing and to lose it is another. We're hoping to raise £1,000."
