Residents have been urged to report dangerous driving through Falmouth town centre.

There were funding discussions at Falmouth Town Council's finance and general purposes committee last week before the focus turned to moving the rising bollard and speeding cars.

Cllr Eva who said it was "extremely dangerous" to walk through town at the moment due to speeding vehicles.

"I'm scared stiff," Cllr Eva said, over fears a child could be hit.

He continued: "The speed of some of those cars they wouldn't see a child running out of a shop and be able to stop. They'd have no chance."

Cllr Spargo said: "You see lots of parents completely panicked wondering where their kids are."

Cllr Kirkham said she had been reporting it to the police and urged everyone to do the same via 101, "just keep doing it," she commented.

Cllr Spargo added: "Cars aren't such a big problem. They've physically gotta drive down the road. If there are enough people about then cars have to go slowly. If you're a small vehicle like a cyclist or a motorbike they all seem to feel they have got the ability to miss everything. They don't seem to have an understanding of water on those cobbles. A slight twist to avoid people and they could take several people out in one go."

Cllr Eva also said there was a problem with motorists parking in the street - due to the volume of deliveries happening in the town.

Committee chair Cllr Robinson urged people to report dangerous driving to put pressure on Cornwall Council.
