Penryn Surgery has sought to address rumours that it was going to close due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

This notice also applies to Mawnan Smith Surgery, Falmouth.

On Facebook this morning, the surgery wrote:

"We understand there have been rumours that our surgeries are closed this is untrue.

"Every patient asking for a GP appointment is being booked for a telephone consultation with a doctor. After speaking to the patient, the doctor will ask the patient to attend the surgery on the same day if both the doctor and patient agree it is necessary.

"In fact, the doctors have almost doubled their capacity of patient contacts. They are able to telephone two patients at the same time as they would have seen one patient in a face to face appointment.

Please pass this on to anyone you know who may be interested, to prevent alarm or falsehoods spreading among our community.

"Everyone at the surgery is working hard to ensure patient care continues in the safest way during this crisis.

"We will update Facebook and our website as the situation changes.

Thank you all for your support during these challenging times."
