Cornwall Council has granted conditional planning permission to Arbenneck Developments Limited for the change of use of the former Rosemullion veterinary surgery on 66 Melvill Road to three apartments and the construction of three townhouses.

Northbrook House was estimated to have been built in the late 1880s and was used eventually used as four residential spaces before part of the building was converted in 1987 for the vets which has now relocated.

The plans include three flats within the main building, demolishing the rear extension, and building three townhouses.

The application has already been resubmitted after initial concerns from the public and Falmouth Town Council who said back in June: "Recommend refusal due to the negative impact on the neighbours in terms of loss of light, over development, lack of parking, lack of amenity space and poor design of the extension and dormer above the bay windows on the south elevation."

Now conditional permission has been given, the development must follow conditions set out in the planning schedule.

These include the protection of trees, hard and soft landscape to be approved by a local planning authority, and further bat surveys to avoid harm to protected species.
