This morning, members of Extinction Rebellion Cornwall staged a 'die-in' at three of the towns banks.

A die-in is a form of protest in which participants simulate being dead.

The event read:

"Join the chorus to herald a New Dawn in banking. Where fossil fuels are a thing of the past…

"On Saturday 15th February let's fill the banks of Falmouth with flocks of birds to ask them to divest fossil fuels.

"Continued Investment of the public's money by banks in the fossil fuel industry is impacting air quality throughout the globe, and hastening our descent into climate catastrophe.

"Many native species of bird continue to be impacted by this devastation."

The group started on The Moor at 10am, making their way to HSBC, Santander and then Barclays.

Bird noises were played throughout the protest on speakers.

XR Falmouth and Penryn have been contacted for a comment.
