Castle Beach Cafe has announced the number of packed lunches handed out during half term.
The owner of the cafe Fiona Crump revealed today that a superb 189 free packed lunches were handed out and £6,200 was raised and distributed to local foodbanks.
MPs voted against offering school lunches free of charge and Fiona took matters into her own hands making up lunch bags for school children.
Fiona said:
"I have paid out £6,200 to local foodbanks. That is £1,550 to Falmouth Salvation Army Church And Community Centre for their foodbank. £1550 to Penryn & Falmouth Foodbank and £3100 to CPR FoodBank for the Camborne, Pool and Redruth area.
"We actually had a total of £6300 but there was an admin fee of £50 on a funding page which leaves me with £50. I will make that up to £60 and donate it to the Falmouth emergency food parcel initiative where it will pay for three emergency food boxes at Christmas.
"Thank you all so much for your kindness. I think this happened at a time when we all needed to be reminded just how much love and kindness there is in the world. You are all amazing."
