The Boscawen Field Group held an event yesterday (6 September) to thank organisations and local businesses for their support and kind donations.

During the nine years that Boscawen Fields Group has been in operation, they have made £52,500 worth of improvements. Their 14/16 members work extremely hard to make this area one of the most attractive in Falmouth working 2907 hours in total.

Lynn, who is one of the founders of The Boscawen Field Group, commented on the day's event. She said: "Our aim today is to thank those who have helped us in the culmination of a very important project for Falmouth that, for many reasons, has taken longer than originally anticipated.

"Some years ago, Penny, Cormac's Countryside Ranger, Cllr Tony Parker & Simon Penna from FTC invited the group to become involved in the project to widen the coastal footpath from Gylly to Swanpool to make it one of only two areas in Britain to become compliant under the Disability Discrimination Act. The widening, straightening & re-surfacing of the footpath was carried out by Calum's team from Cormac on behalf of Natural England."

Back in July, Falmouth Nature highlighted the work done by the group with Falmouth leading the way with easy access to coastal footpath.

Also highlighted by Falmouth Nature and Lynn was the positive environmental impact the work has had on the area. Lynn said: " Boscawen Fields Group provided many hours of planting hedging, wildflower seeds, and many many wildflower seed bombs donated by local company Watson Marlow.

"Over 3000 daffodil bulbs were generously donated by Trago Mills, our thanks go to store manager Craig and the manager of the garden department, Jeff, for their assistance. We also thank Ron and Adrian Scamp."

Lynn then continued to acknowledge a number of businesses and individuals that had helped along the way. She said: "Our group received generous donations from Falmouth Bay Residents Assoc & Falmouth & District Hotels Assoc that then enabled us to install a new hardwood seat on the coastal footpath together with funds to refurbish a further seat.

"Thanks to Paul and the team from Cormac, these seats have been well used by residents and visitors since their installation to enjoy the magnificent view across the bay.

"Thanks to all, sponsors, councillors & a rep from our MP Cherilyn for attending today. Special thanks to Healeys for the selection of cider they have graciously provided today & Lynher Dairy for the Yarg cheeses.

"Our thanks must also go to the Open Spaces team of Falmouth Town Council, Tessa the Education, Environment & Enforcement Officer who are always on hand to help us in any way they can.

And finally, the Biffa team who regularly keeps the area graffiti and litter-free alongside Cormac Environmental for all the grass trimming and allowing the use of the Community tool trailer."
