Organisers have now highlighted arrangements for accessible viewing and parking at the Armed Forces Day National Event in Falmouth on 24th June 2023.

A dedicated accessible viewing area has been provided to view the parade on Bar Road opposite Grove Place Car Park. The area will cater for persons with mobility issues, there will be space to include wheelchair and motorised scooter users and people accompanied by guide/service dogs.

Some seating will be provided however, the area will not be on a pre-booked basis and will be dynamically managed to accommodate demand.

There will be accessible toilets throughout the town, and temporary toilet facilities with accessible provision will be at:

  • Events Square
  • Grove Place (Military Village)
  • The Moor
  • Church St Car Park
  • Gyllyngvase Car Park
  • Cliff Road
  • Pendennis Castle
  • Medical Treatment Centres (Gylly Beach and The Moor)

People will mobility issues should be aware that the pavements of Falmouth are old and, in some areas, cobbled, which may present challenges. Organisers say they will ensure that all venue thoroughfares are kept clear.

Stewards will be on hand to assist anyone needing help. They will all be wearing hi-vis jackets. If you know you will need specific assistance, contact: [email protected] in advance of the event and they will do their best to help.

Due to the temporary road closures affecting the existing disabled parking options in Falmouth, additional parking for Blue Badge holders has been arranged but it must be pre-booked for Saturday.

Suitable parking provision has been set up at either end of the parade route and for the air displays.

The council has also highlighted this important advice:

  • If you can do so, use the Park and Ride service at Tremough on Saturday.
  • Parking in the locations below needs to be booked in advance using the links shown, and there are limited spaces.
  • You may not be parking in a designated disabled bay.
  • At your parking location display your Blue Badge on your dashboard.

There will be four disabled car parking options, for the parade and air display, all of which must be pre-booked at the link shown:

There will be restrictions on vehicle movement and times when you cannot access the additional parking provision. During the parade, if you are parking at The Moor or Kimberley Park Road you will need to be parked by 10:00 and will not be able to move your vehicle until 13:00.

From 13.00 onwards you will be able to access existing disabled parking in Killigrew St and Webber St.
