In a regular feature, Mayor Steve Eva provides an update on the things going on at the Town Council.

This is what Steve Eva had to say about the events over the past week and going forward...

Last Monday I was invited to Penryn Bowling Club to help celebrate the 100th year of the Penryn branch of the Royal British Legion which was a pleasure as an ex-serviceman this followed a rather testing afternoon as news came through of a missing 10-year-old boy who was on holiday with his Dad and brother.

What was to prove great teamwork between Town Council, CCTV, The Pier Master, the security from the road closure and the staff at Trago's teamwork found the boy after an hour and a big thank you to Trago staff who finally found him safe in the store where he had walked to from the bottom of the High Street.

I had a couple of walkabouts later in the week and there seemed no let-up in the number of visitors who it seems not worried about the extremely high covid numbers.

We at the Town Council led by Cllr Kirkham have been calling for more vacations points in Falmouth with no much support coming our way.

After a couple of months and numbers, the highest in the Country Cornwall is finally getting help.

This week has seen some nice weather and the beaches packed and people need to be reminded that social distancing should be maintained even outside and remember to respect other people's space.

The number of people wearing masks is beginning to drop so please remember to wear a mask especially if going into shops or other buildings and a reminder that when entering any council buildings masks must be worn

I along with the Mayoress and other councillors attended the Parklive Event at Princess Pavilion and a pleasant afternoon it was. Some really good local bands and of course the weather was perfect.

Next week we have the Tour of Britain coming through Falmouth which will be a great day and will attract a large number of people so please respect the space of others.

If you have not already done so get jabbed and help us get on top of this horrid epidemic that is now affecting the younger generation with many stories of younger people being extremely ill.
