'Do not risk your life or others for a selfie': Coastguard warning ahead of stormy conditions

HM Coastguard has issued a warning to ahead of what is expected to be a stormy weekend leading into half term.

With the message "do not risk your life or others for a selfie," the coastguard is asking people to take caution if they are visiting the coast this half term.

A spokesperson for HM Coastguard Area 11 Cornwall & Isles of Scilly said:

"Coastguard teams around the coast are always prepared and ready to drop what they are doing to come to the aid of those in need during storm conditions.

"Do not put yourself or others in danger and remember the Covid rules this half term.

"Please heed the warnings, stay away from exposed beaches, cliffs and harbours during storms.

"If you see someone at risk near the coast or sea call 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
