A flood alert has been issued to Falmouth residents and visitors with southwesterly winds and large waves expected this evening.

The conditions could result in wave overtopping and sea spray in exposed locations.

The Environment Agency warned:

"High spring tides, strong winds and large waves may cause flooding to low lying coastal areas.

"High numbers of visitors in locations that may flood brings increased risk. People are advised to avoid low lying and exposed coastal areas. We will continue to monitor the situation and will update if the situation changes."

High water in Falmouth today is at 19:56. Flooding is said to be possible 2 hours either side of high tide.
