A Penryn road has now reopened following an armed police situation this afternoon.

The incident took place outside the Kings Arms on Broad Street.

The police presence has now seemingly left the area.

The Kings Arms posted on social media, saying:

"Yes, we have the police here at the pub... Owners are okay and will update you all when we know more!

"Not getting told a lot... but please be patient."

An eyewitness told Nub News:

"The police were earlier using a drone and appear to be communicating with someone through a window in The King's Arms pub.

"They each appear to be carrying assault rifles and full body armour."

Another witness told us:

"Police have blocked off the road, I have seen four of them in full body armour carrying assault rifles."

It has been reported that the incident was a "pre-planned firearms operation" with no risk of life to the public.

We are working hard on collecting concrete information on the nature of the incident. Stay with Nub News for the latest.
