This week residents have the chance to see Maenporth Beach and the shipwreck of Ben Asdale in a film from 1979.

A video put together by Geoff Claydon of Memory Media, it shows the shipwreck when it was around a year old.

Ben Asdale was a Scottish trawler that was wrecked in December 1978 near Falmouth, Cornwall.

Heavy winds and snow dragged the boat adrift into the sea after off-loading fish onto a Russian factory ship in Falmouth Bay and it was swept towards Maenporth Beach and collided with rocks.

Eleven people were saved from the incident, but three men (two Britons and a Russian) were drowned.
