Plans have been presented to redevelop a former Methodist Chapel, on Chapel Terrace, Falmouth.

If approved, the development would see a two-bedroom apartment built and the ground floor would be for available for the community to use.

The proposed development's location would ensure the new residents will have the opportunity of living in an appropriate home within walking distance of local facilities and transportation services.

The retention of a community space is important and will bring "much needed" and appropriate regeneration to the area.

The community space will include a new accessible WC, changing facility and kitchen.

The main hall will retain its double-height volume and the ability to host theatre groups and be able to cater to other community groups in the area.

If permission is granted, there could be quite a bit of work to restore this building.

Surveyors have reported that the roof and principal elevation is unsound and has to be demolished. There will be a demolishment of a rear extension, "to help ensure a more robust method of construction."

In conclusion, the design statement reads:

"Lilyrose do not consider that any negative impact will occur to the conservation area, but will enhance the appearance, material finances and safety of our built environment.

"Access to the community will be increased which will contribute to community resilience while additional amenity in terms of bike parking and refuse storage will increase the building's functionality."
