Penryn pub under fire as hugely 'irresponsible' following armed police situation

Residents have been speaking out following the news that a Penryn pub and hotel has had their rooms open for rent during the virus.

This news was brought to light after a dramatic armed police situation unfolded outside The Kings Arms on Sunday afternoon.

According to the management which took over the pub back in March, the police's operation on the hotel was for a man they had offered one of their rooms to a month prior.

The new management is under fire on social media by residents who believe that they have broken covid-19 rules and put the general public at risk.

The Kings Arms reportedly said that the man had got his girlfriend, two kids and dog to travel down to stay in the pub with him, and they had even planned to all go to the beach together.

Following the knowledge that the hotel allowed the man's family to travel down and reportedly 'come and go' as they pleased - The Kings Arms roast dinner delivery service is being slated as hugely irresponsible and a danger to the public.

One resident said:

"They haven't exactly made a good start as licensees, why are they allowed to break covid-19 rules?"

Police are not commenting on who the wanted man is at this time, but it is reported that he is in police custody.

Another resident stated:

"Nothing like blatantly ignoring government guidance to stop a global pandemic, frankly you don't deserve to have a business after this!

"I've had to follow the guidance at a significant financial loss to my business too!"

Some residents are more understanding of the situation, one said:

"If I was still running the guest house someone asked to stay to self isolate essential staff and all precautions were observed I'd let them stay."

Nub News has contacted The Kings Arms to get their response on some of the criticisms they're facing.
