IN PICTURES: Crowds watch on as Britain's top cyclists ride through Falmouth and Penryn

By Joseph Macey 16th Sep 2021

The top cyclists in the country raced through Falmouth and Penryn this afternoon in the first leg of the Tour of Britain.

The cyclists left Penzance just after 11am, and throughout the day cyclists battleed to be first across the winning line as the first stage winded 111 miles of Cornwall, ending in Bodmin.

Just after 1pm the cyclists arrived in Falmouth before making their way to Penryn for sprints through Commercial Road.

Fans lined the streets, with a big screen up at Pendennis Point, a dance show from Embrace Dance Fitness, stilt walker entertainment, and a ride-by cycle event from Falmouth Wheelers.

In Penryn, the town hosted a Party in the Park with food and entertainment from Bo River, Ritzy Belles, and The Qwest.
