Flushing Arts coordinated a big push to celebrate the wonderful Flushing Community in February.
The lockdowns we experienced last year have made us all re-evaluate our beautiful surroundings, our history, and above all, the incredible people who serve our community and make it special.
Those living in the village were encouraged to 'get your thinking caps on and create something extra special for your window, your garden or to hang on the Bowling Green oak tree.'
Friends, family and neighbours all joined in and the result was that Flushing Village is now bursting with colour and creativity. Like a treasure hunt, you can wander through the streets catching glimpses of painted, crafted, collaged, crocheted hearts and flowers all put out and up to share the love for a community like no other.
From the bus shelter to the school windows, Fisherman's Rest and the Phone Box, art is everywhere.
A delightful sight to see and a visual reminder that although we don't go out to clap in the street, anymore we aren't any less grateful to those that surround us and make Flushing a very unique place on this earth.
