Yesterday was an exciting day for Falmouth-based singer Marcia Hammond as she released her first Christmas album 'Something More.'
All profits from the Christmas album go to support the work of The Salvation Army in Bangladesh, who are starting a project to support children back into education who live in brothels in Jashore.
She recorded the album with her old school music teacher, Matt Fox, Head of Music at Falmouth School.
Marcia told Nub News about the challenges of putting together an album and more about the project, she said:
"We wanted to get a good range of Christmas songs, but the challenge was to decide what songs to include and what to leave out. It's a great team effort with Matt Fox (Head of Music at Falmouth School) on piano and Zac Clarke producing the CD. We spent a reasonable amount of time rehearsing, but we managed to keep within our tight timescale to be ready for the beginning of December.
"What is that great about this project is that it combines my passions for singing with my heart for The Salvation Army's international outreach, particularly into less developed countries. All the profits from the album will go to support the work of The Salvation Army in Bangladesh, who are starting a project in January to support children back into education who live in brothels of Jashore.
"The Salvation Army will provide breakfast, counselling, a safe space for play, support to get back into education, as well as a positive parenting course for their mothers who are working in the brothels."
The CD costs £10 plus £1 in postage and packaging. If anyone is interested in a CD email: [email protected]
