A Christmas Window Decoration Competition will be happening in the village of Flushing this December.
It is free to enter and there will be two categories; one for adults and one for children. The judging will happen on the 20th of December.
To participate residents are asked to photograph their window and upload it to the Flushing Events and Notices Page so that those with less mobility can also see the creativity of the village.
For many years in Flushing at Christmas, there was a Christmas window competition. A past resident of the village was a dental technician and constructed a beautiful miniature silver-plated Christmas tree sitting on a smooth, curved piece of wood.
Each year this little trophy was awarded to the most beautifully decorated window. Until one year, when the trophy disappeared.
Whether it was accidentally parcelled up, or broken, no one knows but this year, to being a little cheer to Flushing, the Christmas Window Decoration Competition is returning.
The hope is to fill the village with light and cheer in these difficult times.
