A Falmouth artist who created a fundraiser to raise money for the NHS has exceeded his target by thousands.

Jamie Medlin, a Falmouth-based artist, got the idea for the fundraiser after a social media raffle where he gave away a limited edition print to boost his online profile blew up.

Due to the pandemic, all of Jamie's outlets for profit from his art have been temporarily closed, which gave him the push to focus on his online presence.

Seeing how much traction the online giveaways could get, Jamie decided to use his platform and giveaway model to raise money for Royal Cornwall Hospital's Covid19 Fund.

The target began with £500, with one raffle ticket being worth £5, giving everyone who entered a 1/100 chance to win.

The target was quickly exceeded and Jamie thought it would only be fair to add another print to keep the same odds of everyone winning.

There are now six limited prints up for grabs as the JustGiving page is currently sitting at £2,740 with no sign of slowing down soon.

Jamie Medlin told Nub News:

"The response has been crazy and I still can't believe it.

"It is amazing to see how many people want to do their bit to help."

Through the creation of this fundraiser, Jamie has seen a real unity within the town and beyond.

"The messages that are being left in support of our brave NHS workers is incredible," he said.

Jamie is planning to collate all of the messages from his JustGiving page to show Cornwall's health workers the mass amount of support they have from the community.
