Residents in Falmouth and Penryn have been put on alert after reports of suspected Nottingham Knockers operating in the area.

Residents from Penryn and Falmouth said they both had young men come to their door supposedly to sell cleaning products.

A warning was issued by the police previously said that the crooks go between houses appearing to offer a range of cleaning products but are secretly checking how much cash may be in the house, whether the home is occupied or empty at certain times, how valuable the belongings are and how well protected the house is.

Forces across the country have issued warnings before to vulnerable residents, especially the elderly, to be on their guard.

One resident from Falmouth posted on social media:

"Said he was the army. When I said I didn't buy at the door he swore and was rude. I've always been advised not to buy (from Nottingham Knockers)."

Another said:

"There were three young guys doing door to door yesterday in Penryn, the one that knocked my door was a bit shocked when I opened the door.

"Then realised he was on camera and said sorry to have bothered you."
