The Falmouth Town Team is working on numerous schemes to support businesses and residents during lockdown and when the lockdown period ends.

Town Manager Richard Gates said the team is working on a "Positive Engagement Plan" for Falmouth which will work by:

"Drawing on many of the great initiatives being undertaken by businesses and organisations in the town and looking at a myriad of ways that we can continue to support our special town, its businesses and residents during this challenging time and beyond."

Richard Gates, told Nub News about the work the team has already been doing to support the town, he said:

"The Falmouth Town Team has been on the front foot to support hundreds of businesses, community groups and organisations, as well as thousands of residents during the current Coronavirus crisis.

"The coordination of daily town briefings, lobbying, online business sessions and advisory networks, have been enhanced by regional messaging, information distribution, the coordination of volunteer efforts and more.

"This has very much been a partnership between Falmouth Town Council and Falmouth BID working productively with our business and resident communities, bringing out the very best of Falmouth's 'spirit of the sea' ethos.

"Together with Cornwall Council, Falmouth Councillors and Falmouth BID Board members, a huge effort has ensured that timely, accurate information is given to those that need it most.

He added:

"In addition, on a regional level, the Town Team has supported the excellent work of Cornwall Council in distributing millions of pounds worth of business grants and played a lead role in enhancing the vital work of Cornwall BIDs/Town Managers across the Duchy.

"Nationally, the team has lobbied Government on the grants and benefits arrangements, the Raise the Bar campaign and worked with the place management industry on recovery plans and revitalisation ideas."
