Cornwall Youth Noise Orchestra - Summer Concert

You may have seen free sessions shared on Nub News for the Cornwall Youth Noise Orchestra, and now they are holding their summer concert.

Doors Open: 2 pm Starts: 2:15 pm - Tickets are free but any donations will be gratefully received and will go towards the project.

The Cornwall Youth Noise Orchestra is a project by Moogie Wonderland that enables young people in Cornwall to take part in making music in a different way to traditional music lessons – using 'noise stations' and alternatives to regular notation. This exciting event is a culmination of the orchestra's work this season and premieres the group's new compositions.

The orchestra's noise stations are based on professional instruments used by experimental music pioneers such as Aphex Twin, Kraftwerk, BBC Radiophonic Orchestra, and Suzanne Ciani, and such music still heavily influences music producers making chart hits today. They are a mixture of professional and DIY electronic instruments such as modular synths and turntables, experimental sound art equipment such as microphones attached to objects, and string instruments based on Eastern music.

Over the last few years, the project has been championed by The Guardian, BBC Radio 3, Electronic Sound, BBC 6 Music, and Cornwall Live. Moogie Wonderland has been working in partnership with Falmouth University on the project this year, providing opportunities for students to work alongside the orchestra. The Cornwall Youth Noise Orchestra has been made possible thanks to support from Youth Music (with funding from Arts Council England), Rapid Online, and Arts Award.
