UNTIL Sunday 18th June
On Sunday the 18th of June Falmouth Cricket Club will be celebrating 70 years at Trescobeas the Hine Downing Oval, the club has a whole day of fun planned including three matches.
The anniversary celebrations were originally planned for the 23rd of April but had to be rearranged.
It's thought the club was formed back in 1910 but in 1953 on April 25th the club was given 6 acres of the Trescobeas land which they would then go on to call their home.
When speaking to the club's chairman Mark Averiss ahead of the big day he explained that a woman named Barbra had gotten in touch to ask about the history of the ground.
It turned out she was the granddaughter of a man that owned the land before the club played there, it was owned by William Edgar Hawkey, a horse breeder and at one point chairman of Falmouth Rugby Club.
After his death, his wife Mrs. Hawkey who still lived in Tresobeas Manor kindly donated land to the club and request it be named the William Edgar Hawkey Memorial Ground in his honor.

Before the land was donated, Falmouth Cricket Club had used the memorial ground for several seasons, home to Falmouth Rugby, but as the pitch had been used all winter the surface was far from ideal for cricket.
Mark said that for the 70th anniversary, the club will put together some photos and information about the club's history for people to go through.

The anniversary will kick off with its first match at 11:00 am 'Have Been's' vs 'The Future' where parents and the kids will battle it out. The next match will see the SeaView Old Boys team take on the Pendennis Shipyard squad at 13:30 pm. The final game at 15:00 pm will be a match between The Cornish and the Rest of The World.
The bar will also be open alongside a bbq, cream teas, cake, and a raffle. Mark was hopeful that as well as all the current members that those who haven't visited the club or those that may have been members a few years ago would come and join them for a day of celebration.
If you or anyone you know is able to volunteer at your local cricket club then don't be afraid to get in touch, the friendly team of volunteers are always looking for an extra pair of hands to help out, especially dealing with catering.
