Penryn made it three wins on the bounce, with an excellent 21-17 victory at Cullompton in what was a fiery encounter. The Borough again raced into a healthy lead and despite a late rally from the home side, had done enough to bring home the points to Cornwall.

Penryn would have been keen to back up two impressive home bonus-point victories with an away win, but knew full well Cullompton would provide a stern test. The home side were in desperate need for the points sitting at the wrong end of the table and they took the lead, with an early penalty.

Much like the previous weekend though, there was no room for sentiment from the Borough. They burst into life with a training ground move off first phases, as full back for the day Josh Chambers was put away for a super score. Sam Carter converted and Penryn had now settled into proceedings.

With half time approaching, Penryn were keen to put some daylight between them and the hosts and struck at an opportune time. With advantage being played from a powerful scrum, skipper Grant Randlesome picked from the base and powered over. Carter's conversion gave the scoreboard a fair reflection at 3-14 going into the break.

It was a prickly contest throughout, but things would eventually erupt in the second half. It started well for the visitors too and when Adam Strick muscled across the line, Penryn had almost certainly done enough for victory and were chasing a third consecutive try bonus point at 3-21. The home side closed the gap to 10-21, before a late challenge on Penryn fly half Nathan Strick sparked a 30 man brawl as tensions finally boiled over. George Jones and a Cullompton player saw yellow as the game crept towards a close.

The home side added a second try with just minutes to go, to send alarm bells sounding through the Borough ranks. Fortunately though Penryn had done enough and were deserved winners. Penryn travel to Kingsbridge looking to continue their excellent recent form next Saturday.
