Penryn's Director of rugby Marek Churcher made it clear that his side shouldn't be looking at Falmouth's league position going into the match, he said: "When it comes to a local derby form can go out the window, technique can be replaced by passion we've had some real close games before."

Despite being wary about the derby Marek felt the team was in a really good place, he said: "This season we've had a bit of a reset, the lads have been training really well and have been really confident, the latest win against Wiveliscombe was great. We even had the Cornwall Rugby League team train with us this week which was amazing so hopefully, we can take that into the game."

Speaking to Josh Lord Falmouth's head coach I asked if he felt a big game against a local rival could help turn their season around, He said: "There's no doubt it's been a tough season, we seem to have hit every team when they've been in a purple patch. Obviously playing against a local rival can be a lift to the team and enable us to find that extra bit of focus when needed. We'll be keeping our focus on ourselves though and aiming to achieve performance goals throughout the game. If we can do that then hopefully the result will take care of itself."

On top of a good performance, Josh was Hopeful that there will be a big crowd mixed with both sets of fans to create a real atmosphere, he said: "I'd love for there to be a big turnout for the game, our players deserve it, they give nothing but their all every week and have been both gaining in confidence and improving in performance as the season has gone on. There is a loyal band of supporters that have stuck by the team no matter what, so hopefully, we can put in a performance to make them proud."

Marek was also looking forward to a big crowd, he said: "The weather looking dry so we hope all sports fans would come to see a Penryn vs Falmouth match whether its a boxing day fixture or this weekend."
