Falmouth Town will be looking for instant revenge on Buckland Athletic when they welcome the Devon side to Bickland Park in the Western League Premier Division today (kick-off at 3 pm).

In a bizarre quirk of the fixture list, the match falls fewer than four days after the teams met at Buckland's Homers Heath ground in the reverse fixture.

Dan Hart's Bucks ran out 2-0 winners over Town on Tuesday night, with Jared Lewington scoring both goals in the first half to secure all three points.

Town are now five places and 11 points below Buckland after slipping to ninth following Tuesday's loss, although they enjoy two games in hand on the Devon side. A win on Saturday would see Town rise above Helston Athletic and into seventh, should they fail to beat Street.

Opposition view

Buckland, who are managed by Dan Hart, have been in the Western League since 2012 after the Devon outfit won promotion from the South West Peninsula League Premier.

In their eight completed campaigns in the Western League, the Bucks have never finished below 11th, having done so on two occasions including last season.

This time around the Devonians sit fourth – five places and 11 points above Town – with 44 points to their name from 24 matches, and also enjoyed a good run to the fourth round proper of the FA Vase before being eliminated by Ascot United two weeks ago.

Buckland have scored 62 goals in all competitions this season, with Ryan Bush leading the way with 14 strikes in 28 games, with Josh Webber one behind on 13 goals from the same number of games.

Westy's words

"It's a bit of a unique scenario, isn't it? I don't think there's been many times we've played the same side back-to-back. It should be interesting to see how both sides fare up. You don't want to overthink it because I think the teams are so different between home and away; playing away is definitely more of a challenge than playing at home.

"For us to go up there in midweek, you haven't got your creature comforts, and it'll be the same for them when they come down to us. Obviously, we know a lot about each other now, having only just played them, but it's important that after a defeat, like any defeat, that you can bounce back with a win, regardless if it's against the same side or another team."
