Falmouth Town have said they are pleased to confirm the signing of winger Jacob Grange.

Grange, who featured in the pre-season defeat to Plymouth Parkway on Saturday afternoon, played alongside fellow new recruit Morgan Coxhead at Truro City reserves last season, scoring six goals in 26 appearances as the White Tigers won the St Piran League West title.

The 22-year-old, who scored in our 3-1 win at Liskeard Athletic on Wednesday night, also counts Mousehole, Wendron United and Newquay among his former clubs, having scored a combined seven goals in 30 games for the trio of teams during the 2021/22 campaign.

Grange becomes the fifth signing of the summer, joining goalkeeper Coxhead, left-sided player Bradley Leivers, midfielder Jared Sims and returning winger Alex Wharton at Bickland Park.

"I'd say the fans have been a big factor [in me signing for Town]," Grange said. "I've always wanted to play in front of a big crowd. I've really enjoyed being a part of the squad so far and I'm looking forward to getting started this season.

"I'd like to think I'll bring a creative side – attacking, goals and hopefully a bit of fun for the fans.

"I'm definitely pushing for the league, to be honest. I'm here to win. I'm not here to have a good time and take part, I want to start winning some things and push the team on."

First-team manager Andrew Westgarth said he was 'absolutely delighted' to land Grange, and thanked his Truro City reserves counterpart John Fabby for his assistance with releasing Grange from his contract with the White Tigers and getting the transfer over the line.

"He's played two games for us now in two different positions," Westgarth said. "He ticks a lot of boxes and he's the sort of player we love at Falmouth: plenty of endeavour, pace, power, great energy levels – he's a great addition for us.

"I think [the fans] are going to like him. He's got similar attributes to [Luke] Brabyn: the way they wear their socks, the way they run, they're probably not 100 percent sure what they're going to do, but it gets people on the edge of their seats.

"I think he showed that today [against Parkway]. At right wing-back, it's a tough ask against a well-drilled side but I think he can be pleased with his efforts."
