Work has finally started at the site for Falmouth Skatepark on Dracaena Avenue after 13 years of campaigning and planning.
You can read more about the skatepark story here:All you need to know about the Falmouth Skatepark Project
The skatepark team that includes the current deputy and future mayor of Falmouth, Kirstie Edwards, was at the site to capture the 'first dig', you can watch it here: Facebook.
As the work continues the team has also been able to share some more good news, the Crowdfunder they launched last month has now reached 91% of their target goal.
When the Crowdfunder went live the team said: "We are already partially funded and need to raise a further £38,000 to unlock our final fund stream to actually build the dream of a large open-flow skatepark for all ages and abilities to use for wheeled sports.
"We have funding applications in for small local pots and need to raise £20,000 of this amount from our Crowdfunder. Your money will demonstrate community support and be used for the build, real-life physical parts of the park."
There are only 11 days on the Crowdfunder with £18,355 raised of the £20,000 target, Falmouth Skatepark Project said: "Progress! 90% of target- loads more rewards- not far to go let's do this people."
When donating you can select a number of great rewards for your donation, this could be some Falmouth skatepark clothing or even your own skate gear.
